Altitude Gain: 1252m
% Average: 6,23%

Area: Lago Maggiore, Piemonte, Alpes Pennines, Italie

If you are on holidays on the area of the Lago Maggiore in Italy, there a couple of climbs that you must do for sure.

The Col de Mottarone climb is one of them. You start exactly from the lake Maggiore. After a quick traversse of the village of Stresa, you can find brown signs indicating "Mottarone". You can't missi it.
The first 4 or 5 kilometers are a bit of a pain because you have a highway entrance just above you. So the traffic is a bit intense. But once you pass the highway entry, you don't see a lot of cars.
You'll pass Vezzo, then a bit later Gignese.
It's after Gignese that the real climb starts :) with the highest percentages. The climb is nice and steady... a real fun!

The view from the top is simply amazing. It worth the climb up there!
