Les Courtes (3856m), NNE Couloir, 9 Mar 2011

By admin - Posted on 05 January 2012

Incredible, it's the only word that i can say when i look at the weather in the Alps this year.
I can't remember that last time that snow fell in Chamonix, the weather has been simply perfect. Amazing blue sky sunny days!!!
Of course that we must take advantage of these conditions, stay concentrated at work is very hard at the moment :-)

Today we climbed Les Courtes, am 3856m mountain in the Argentiere Glacier area. We took off in the morning from the Grands Montets top lift, then we skied down to the Glacier of Argentiere where we put our skins and headed for the bottom of the NNE Couloir. The rimaye is delicate to cross, but still ok. Then it's 800m of 45º couloir and then a nice and beautiful ridge to reach the summit.

After this, we went down on the other side of the mountain, towards the Couverrcle hut and the Talefre Glacier. The ski was amazing.... nice spring snow :-)
